Book of the Forest unfolds as a recursive process. A photograph becomes a hand drawing, then a drawing of the drawing, and finally a further reduction. Each image in the sequence is then translated by hand into four prototype studies. In the book, the entire process is repeated four times, each time beginning with a different photograph. The work moves between image, memory and form.
